Waiver Rule Details for all AntSports Leagues

Updated on 07/13/2005 - PreSeason Waivers now FCFS.
Created on 09/07/2002 - Waivers Detailed Page.

Waivers in General

AntSports offers the following waiver types :

  • First-Come-First-Serverd Waivers
  • Worst-To-First
  • Blind Bidding

In all of AntSports public leagues, picking up free agents never costs any real money. All waiver moves in our public leagues are free of charge. Note that blind bidding does require bidding bucks (read below). The AntSports website will handle all waivers, you do not need to email AntSports for player add/drops.

First-Come-First-Served Waivers :

In leagues with this waiver system, you can Add/Drop players at anytime, including during game times.

Waivers during PreSeason :

During preseason, waivers are FCFS and you can add/drop as needed anytime.

Normal Weekly Waivers

The normal waiver system timeline for WtoF and Blind Bid is :

  1. Starting Kickoff Sunday - Only Waiver Requests are taken. You can request players for WtoF or put in your Blind Bid if your waiver system is bids.

  2. Wednesday 3 AM EST (very late Tues night) - All the waiver requests are processed and the players are given out. (WtoF or to the highest bidder).

  3. Wednesday 3 AM EST to Sunday Kickoff - Waivers are first-come-first-served. If your waiver system is Blind Bid, you can pick up any free agent without paying any bidding dollars.

The Waiver Request Period is from Kickoff Sunday until waviers are processed on Tuesday night.

If there is an early game, the players in that early game will not be available once kickoff happens for FCFS waivers time period.

Waivers Deadline :

There will be no waivers deadline. This means you can pickup free agents even during the playoffs. I have this rule in my private league and it works fine. By the playoffs, there are few if any free agents that actually make a difference. Preventing free agent pickups causes teams to submit subpar lineups, which is not good during the playoffs.

Worst To First Waiver Details :

During the Waiver Request Period, you can use the website to submit waiver requests. The requests are very simular to predrafting and are organized into a maximum of 6 rounds. Requests are processed worst-to-first for all round 1 requests. Then worst-to-first for round 2 and so on, until all 6 rounds are processed or all requests are complete. This method gives the worst teams in the league 1 player each before the rest of the league gets a chance. It means that the last place team cannot take the best 4 free agents each week.

Here is what a waiver request would look like for a team that needs a new PK and a new WR:

Destroyers Round 1 :

Player to Drop :

  1. D. Brien PK Min

Player to Add :

  1. Carney PK SDC
  2. Feadly PK ATL
  3. B. Gramitica PK ARI

Destroyers Round 2 :

Player to Drop :

  1. Driver WR Greenbay

Player to Add :

  1. M. Jenkins WR ARI
  2. C. Johnson WR CIN
  3. T. Streets WR SFO
  4. D. Terrell WR CHI

Here's how the computer handles this request. Round 1 is sorted WtoF. The top choice from the players "to add" list is given to the worst team. If the Destroyers were the 2nd worst team and the 1st team took Carney, then the Destroyers would get their 2nd choice Feadly and the computer would drop D. Brian. Then the rest of the 1st round choices for all the other teams are processed. Then the same thing begins for round 2. If the Destroyers were last in round 1 instead of 2nd and all their PKs were taken, Then their Round 2 selection would move up to round 1.

Now, you can put in a list of several players to drop also. Let's say in the above example, the Destroyers PK Brien has been cut from MIN and is out of the NFL. So, the Destroyers want Brien dropped no matter what, then they should submit the exact same request for round 1 as above but should submit this request for round 2. :

Destroyers Round 2 :

Player to Drop :

  1. D. Brien PK Min
  2. Driver WR Greenbay

Player to Add :

  1. M. Jenkins WR ARI
  2. C. Johnson WR CIN
  3. T. Streets WR SFO
  4. D. Terrell WR CHI

This way if they didn't get a PK when the requests are processed, they will still drop Brien when they get a WR.

Blind Bidding Waiver Details

Blind Bidding is basicly the same as WtoF above except there are NO Rounds. You put in a bid for each player. If you only want to cut 1 player, you can put in 1 request. The request can include several players to pickup, ranked as first choice to last choice. If someone else bids higher than your bid for your 1st choice, you may win the bid on your second choice.

If you want to add and drop 2 rosters spots, you need to submit 2 requests.

Here's an example of a team add/dropping 2 players from his roster :

Destroyers Free Agent Pickup 1 : Player to Drop :

  1. D. Brien PK Min

Player to Add :

  1. Carney PK SDC 3 Bidding Bucks
  2. Feadly PK ATL 2 Bidding Bucks
  3. B. Gramitica PK ARI 0 Bidding Bucks

Destroyers Free Agent Pickup 2 : Player to Drop :

  1. Driver WR Greenbay

Player to Add :

  1. M. Jenkins WR ARI 10 Bidding Bucks
  2. C. Johnson WR CIN 12 Bidding Bucks
  3. T. Streets WR SFO 7 Bidding Bucks
  4. D. Terrell WR CHI 2 Bidding Bucks

Notice that you can put in a request for Zero Bidding Bucks. If no one else wants that player, then you get them for free.

Ties are broken in Worst-to-first order. To avoid ties, it's recommend to not use even numbers like 10, 5, 20.
